Steam surpasses 27M concurrent users on November 28

Valve's Steam digital storefront hit a new all-time daily peak of just over 27 million concurrent users on November 28. Third-party tracker SteamDB reports that no less than 27,384,959 users logged into Steam yesterday, topping the previous record of 26.9 million concurrent users on April 1st, 2021.

The new Autumn Sale campaign and Black Friday shopping weekend certainly helped attract users this time around; of the 27.4 million online users, 7.8 million were actually in-game on November 28. That's a little less than the all-time peak of 8.2 million players recorded last April 2nd, 2020, just after the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. However, mounting concerns over the new Omicron variant may well have gamers bracing for yet another lockdown.
