IOGear iOS and PC Peripheral Roundup

IOGear Kaliber Gaming Introduction

image

IOGear has a lot of new gaming gear coming out in the beginning of 2022, especially for their Kaliber Gaming division! Up for review today is the KeyMander 2 Mobile adapter, along with the Symmetre II gaming mouse, and Hver Pro X gaming keyboard.

The KeyMander 2 Mobile allows users to control their Apple iPad, iPhone, or Apple TV with a keyboard and mouse or a PS4/Xbox One controller, for either office use or gaming. The KeyMander 2 Mobile has three USB 2.0 ports so you can have all three devices hooked up at once to control your Apple products. The KeyMander 2 Mobile has an MSRP of $99.95 USD.

The Symmetre II is an ambidextrous gaming mouse with an adjustable weight system, 8 programmable buttons, up to 16,000 DPI, multiple profile storage, and adjustable RGB backlighting. The MSRP for the Symmetre II is $49.95.

The Hver Pro X mechanical gaming keyboard is fully programmable, with full RGB per-key lighting adjustment, a spill-friendly design that should be nearly immune to most spills and dust, all anti-ghosting rollover (NKRO), a Windows lock key, and multiple media and LED function keys. MSRP for the Hver Pro X is $89.95 USD.

I will be testing the KeyMander 2 Mobile with both an iPad and iPhone, using the Symmetre II and Hver Pro X for the mouse and keyboard, along with an Xbox One (Model 1708) gaming controller.

KeyMander 2 Mobile Closer Look

The KeyMander 2 Mobile is packaged well, and the front of the box displays the device in the forefront with an example system in use in the background. The back of the box goes further into detail about the features of the KeyMander 2 Mobile, including Remote Play support for the PS4 and Xbox One. There is an app called K2 Mobile for configuring custom key mapping, mouse sensitivity, macros, game profiles, and more! The app works for both Android and Apple devices, and it doesn't have to be installed to the device you will be working/gaming on. Included with the KeyMander 2 Mobile is the quick start guide paperwork and a clear plastic piece to help prop up your mobile device. The guide is very helpful for learning how to pair the KeyMander 2 Mobile with your device, as well as how to swap between Office and Gaming modes, and finally swapping to K2 Mobile App pairing.

The KeyMander 2 Mobile is a very small, square device with a green notch at the front. This notch is designed to act as an optional stand to help hold your mobile device when paired with an additional plastic piece; you don't have to mount your device it though since the connection is Bluetooth. The controller port is to the right of the device, while the keyboard and mouse ports are on the back. A small gripe here would be that the mouse and keyboard ports should be switched, but it really doesn't matter much. The KeyMander 2 Mobile has a permanently affixed USB 2.0 cable measuring roughly 40 in or 101.6 cm. Users will need to provide their own USB power adapter for the KeyMander 2 Mobile to operate, as the necessary rating of the USB power adapter is 5V 2A. You can also use a wireless keyboard and mouse set with the KeyMander 2 Mobile as well, which would work great for Apple TV setups. In this case, IOGear recommends plugging the USB receiver into the keyboard port.

A removable clear plastic piece attaches to the notch to facilitate mounting your mobile device if you so choose. A green rubber strip helps prevent slippage. The KeyMander 2 Mobile connects over Bluetooth so you can place it or your device anywhere within range too!
